Michal finished her Master in Environmental Management at Wageningen University in 2002.
After obtaining her master, she returned to her home country, Israel, where she worked as a freelance researcher for the government for several years and developed strategic plans to make tourism more environmentally friendly. She then decided to actively work on promoting ecotourism herself, and this was the start of her company ‘Eco & Sustainable Tourism Israel’. Michal lives in Tel Aviv, where, she says, it is still safe enough for tourists, despite the ongoing conflict. Her goal is to make people more aware of the environment and to make companies in the tourism sector more sustainable. She does this by organising lectures, workshops and courses.
“It is great to see the concept of sustainable tourism become more important all across the globe. People are becoming more aware of the importance of sustainability. I just find the combination between nature, people and culture incredibly interesting.”
