In 2012, Natasja Poot obtained her Masters in Organic Agriculture at Wageningen University.
Within her master she chose the specialisation Agro Ecology. She now works at BLGG, an innovative agricultural laboratory that conducts analyses related to fertilisation, nutritional value, soil- and plant health for farmers and horticulturalists.
Natasja is Product Manager Soil Health, which means that she is responsible for the product development of the Soil Health department. This department conducts research into soil life, nematodes, and other diseases and pests that threaten the yields of many crops. Natasja develops new measuring techniques and advices, which can be used by farmers to achieve optimal production. She has close contacts with research institutions, and her job also requires a lot of marketing and communication. She has, for example, a lot of contact with breeding advisors and she gives presentations. She also visits farmers quite often.
“I think that the combination of office work and being outside is great. The work is very diverse; on the one hand, you do research, but you also make information available for farmers, so that they will be able to work with the results.”
