Alumna Ilse Pastoors

Ilse Pastoors had planned on studying medicine, but came to Wageningen to study Health and Society.

What you do directly influences the health care structure. This makes it socially relevant and that gives me a lot of energy.

Ilse Pastoors had planned on studying medicine, but came to Wageningen to study Health and Society. She thought the broad degree was very interesting and graduated in 2011. She almost immediately found a job at the directorate of Zorgmarkten Care at the Nederlandse Zorgautoriteit (Health market Care at the Dutch Health Care Authority). She is responsible, amongst other things, for the AWBZ-institutions. These are institutions for people with a serious impairment who require long term care. Ilse is very enthusiastic about her work: “What you do directly influences the health care structure. This makes it socially relevant and that gives me a lot of energy.”

Especially the analytical skills and the job experience she obtained during her studies and her internship come in handy. In addition to her regular work, Ilse is also a member of the works council and organises a lot of activities for her colleagues at Young NZa. In short, she is enjoying herself very much!
