Alumnus testimonial
Alumnus Danny Schoch
Danny studied International Land and Water Management and chose the specialisation Irrigation and Water Management.
It is also very diverse; part of my job is about technical content, but I also get to meet many different parties and people!
He graduated in 2007, and now works as an area manager for large infrastructural projects at Rijkswaterstaat. He currently works on both the Programme Maintenance Bridges and on a large tunnel project in Nijverdal, where they are constructing a combined road- and railroad tunnel underneath the city centre. It is his responsibility to ensure that the interests of the project are accepted by the people in the surrounding area, and vice versa. It is a challenge to incorporate the wishes of people in the surrounding area into the plans, and to ensure that inconveniences for people in the surrounding area are reduced to a minimum, whilst still finishing the project on budget and in time.
“It is fun to work with different stakeholders and to make sure that different parties and people eventually come to an agreement. It is also very diverse; part of my job is about technical content, but I also get to meet many different parties and people!”
In addition to his work at Rijkswaterstaat, Danny is also an avid climber and will be going on expeditions to a remote area together with several other mountaineers. “We still have to decide on our destination, but we are considering the Himalayas!”
