Tomoyuki - Wageningen offers a transdisciplinary approach
"During my bachelor's in agricultural economics in Japan, I came across the Wageningen University & Research. It was an eye-opening moment. All the stories I saw excited me and started to make me feel “I want to study here.” As I also had an interest in business, I decided to work in the food industry for four years to gain working experience before doing my master's. In my master's programme, I learned a lot about consumer behaviour from different fields, such as economics, psychology, sociology, and communication. To help consumers change consumption practices, all actors in the system need to work together—industry, governments, academia, and consumers. What I see myself doing in the future is building bridges between the different domains. Studying in Wageningen helps with this as it offers a transdisciplinary approach and an environment to talk with people with different perspectives."
