We are looking for

Do you have a PhD in microbiology, molecular biology or a related field? Are you looking for a postdoc position? Do you want to be part of a new, innovative research facility called  UNLOCK  which is part Wageningen University and Research (WUR)? We have a vacancy for a postdoctoral researcher in the field of microbial ecology. Are you our new colleague?

WHAT ARE YOU GOING TO DO?
As postdoc within UNLOCK you will focus on innovations in the area of single cell approaches and synthetic microbiome research at the Laboratory of Microbiology. Your activities will be embedded in the Biodiscovery platform that allows its users to discover and characterize new micro-organisms. In addition, there is a processing unit that allows for fully automated unlocking of biological samples for biomolecular analysis.
Your activities will include, among others:

  • Implementing single cell based systems for discovery and characterization of novel microorganisms;
  • designing and experimentally testing synthetic microbiomes using microbioreactors;
  • participating in our educational activities;
  • provide expertise and support to internal and external groups that are using the UNLOCK facilities.

We ask

As PostDoc you are an ambitious, enthusiastic and creative scientist and a team player, devoted to microbiome research and education. You also have
• A PhD degree in microbiology, molecular biology or related fields
• Knowledge and interest in microbial ecology and molecular biology, and single cell based approaches including microfluidics is advantageous
• A talent to inspire PhD students and other researchers
• Ability in acquisition and proposal writing for getting research funding
• Excellent communication and organisation skills
• Didactic qualities and enthusiasm for teaching and working with students
