You are sensitive to your environment and form a crucial link between what happens within WUR and the outside world. You are an advisor on the astonishing innovations within WUR's domain, the outstanding and exciting research and education we have within our organisation and those who work here. You develop media strategies for various campaigns, alone or with a team, maintain international media relations with your colleagues, and expand this network. You enjoy working in a position that is still under development and which offers you the opportunity to further shape it. Within the External Communications and Media Relations team, you act as a sparring partner for science press officers of the sciences groups to gain news-worthy information. You are aware of what goes on in the outside world and are able to call attention to WUR's themes outside of the organisation, both online and offline. Important selection criteria for this position are extensive experience as a press officer in an international context with an up to date and relevant international media network.

  • You closely follow developments within the WUR domains and the field of communications and are sensitive to relevant current affairs, which you translate into media strategies that benefit WUR;
  • In collaboration with the sciences groups' press officers, you further expand WUR's (international) media network, which you supply with relevant information;
  • You have a shared responsibility for the department's availability. You brief the (international) media and rapidly and adequately respond to questions;
  • You chip in to the positioning of the External Communications and Media Relations team. To this end, you actively maintain contact with, and offer advice to a wide range of internal and external partners. You know how to best serve their needs;
  • You play an active role in the WUR dialogue on social media, monitoring online and offline media communications. You supply to blogs, our website and the intranet;

  • You are fluent in English (both spoken and written) and sufficiently skilled in the Dutch language;
  • You have an up to date and relevant international media network at your disposal, both online and offline;
  • You are able to translate complex content into accessible messages for both broad and targeted audiences. You are a professional in communicating with impact with the relevant media.
