Do you have a completed MLO (secondary laboratory education) degree and are you ready for a new challenge as a Analist BSE in an inspiring and dynamic environment? What will you do?
We, Wageningen Bioveterinary Research (WBVR), are looking for an enthusiastic analyst to strengthen our close-knit BSE (mad cow disease) team.

As a BSE Analyst, you play a crucial role in detecting BSE (Bovine Spongiform Encephalopathy). Together with your colleagues, you will analyze a large number of samples daily to screen for BSE.

Your tasks:

  • Receiving, registering, and preparing samples.
  • Testing samples using the ELISA method.
  • Working according to the ISO17025 standard to ensure the highest quality.
  • Flexibly assisting in other departments within WBVR.
  • Providing support in the event of animal disease outbreaks when necessary.

The work may take place in buildings that require additional quarantine restrictions after leaving (based on EU regulations). This means that keeping cloven-hoofed animals is not allowed. Additionally, for 72 hours after work, you are not allowed to have contact with these animals or visit poultry production farms.

About Wageningen Bioveterinary Research

The diagnostic laboratories of Wageningen Bioveterinary Research in Lelystad are responsible for diagnostics related to monitoring and suspected cases of notifiable viral and bacterial animal diseases, as well as conducting export diagnostics. Quality is central to our diagnostic work. In addition to performing diagnostics, we develop, implement, and validate new tests. Our enthusiastic team of highly trained analysts carries out most of the work in our BSL-2 laboratory.

Your qualities

You are/have:

  • At least a completed MLO education;
  • An enthusiastic, quality-oriented, and proactive attitude;
  • A critical approach to your work, with a strong focus on quality;
  • Stress-resistant and able to stay calm during high workload periods or animal disease outbreaks;
  • Proficient in Dutch, both spoken and written, as you must be able to follow the applicable protocols.

We offer, depending on your experience, a competitive gross salary of between €2.671,- and €3.399,- for a full-time working week of 36 hours, in accordance with the CLA Wageningen Research (scale 6). As for your contract, we initially offer a one-year contract that can be extended - if possible within (company) organizational circumstances - on good performance.Of course, we are happy to have a conversation with you if you have any questions about this.
