Do you enjoy conducting laboratory research on natural toxins in food and animal feed? Do you like working hands-on in the lab and are you quality-conscious? Do you enjoy collaborating with others and have you completed a vocational (MBO) education as a chemical analyst? Then we are looking for you! Our Natural Toxins team at Wageningen Food Safety Research (WFSR) is looking to hire a chemical analyst.

What will you do?
As a chemical analyst in natural toxins, you will perform analyses using standardized protocols. The focus is on instrumental analysis using state-of-the-art LC-MS/MS systems. The analytical and research results will be reported to the project leader. You will work in an analysis team responsible for efficiently carrying out and reporting analyses. In doing so, you will contribute to food safety within the food chain and a healthy living environment.

Your tasks and responsibilities as a chemical analyst include:

  • performing LC-MS/MS analyses in various projects;
  • checking data against applicable standards;
  • data analysis and reporting to the project leader;
  • contributing to the upkeep of our ISO 17025 accredited laboratory.
You will collaborate with project leaders, researchers, and analysts within the Natural Toxins team (around 22 colleagues).

Your qualities

You are accurate, flexible, and capable of working independently as well as in a team. In addition, you have:

  • a completed MBO education in analytical chemistry or a related field;
  • experience with LC-MS/MS systems and sample preparation techniques;
  • experience working in an ISO 17025 accredited lab is a plus;
  • preferably, experience with project-based work;
  • strong communication skills and a good command of both Dutch and English.

In our international working environment, English is increasingly used. For this position, a B2 language proficiency level is required. If you haven’t yet reached this level, we can support you through our language center, Wageningen in’to Language.

We offer, depending on your experience, a competitive gross salary of between € 2671,-.and € 3399,-. for a full-time working week of 36 hours, in accordance with the CLA Wageningen Research (scale 6). Additionally, a contract for 32 hours can be discussed.

As for your contract, we initially offer a one-year contract that can be extended, if possible within (company) organizational circumstances and on good performance. Of course, we are happy to have a conversation with you if you have any questions about this.
