Next generation sequencing (NGS)

Wageningen University & Research, Shared Research Facilities offers state-of-the-art Next Generation Sequencing facilities and technology that can be applied for a wide variety of applications measuring endpoints of key importance in gene regulation and the resulting biological effects.

Our equipment makes it possible to sequence a complete genome, transcriptome or metagenome within weeks at a fraction of the costs of conventional sequencing technologies.

The use of NGS has tremendously changed the landscape of genomic exploration for anyone working in life sciences. The diversity of applications to which these technologies have already been applied (de novo genome sequencing species without a reference, finding trait specific SNPs or measuring gene expression analysis) demonstrates the immense range of biological processes and properties that can now be studied at the single-base resolution.
