Liesje Mommer is clear: we are facing the greatest challenge ever! Biodiversity is not doing well: we see disappearing insects, soils without earthworms and coral reefs dying. Ecosystems are crumbling and with them, the survival of our people is hanging by a thread. Time for action!

Biodiversity is the essence of life

Wageningen Biodiversity Initiative

Wageningen University & Research does a lot of research into agriculture and ecology, but these worlds didn't come together on a daily basis. With the newly established Wageningen Biodiversity Initiative, Liesje Mommer (professor of plant ecology and nature management) and other researchers want to bring this together.
