Annika Tensi studied Liberal Arts and Sciences at the Univeristy College Maastricht in her Bachelor (B.A.) with a strong focus on economics and sustainability. After the Management, Economics and Consumer Studies Master (M.Sc.) at WUR she started with her PhD in the Business Economics Group in 2019. The PhD is part of the Horizon 2020 project SIMBA. The PhD research is focussed on the adoption of sustainable innovations in arable farming and microbial applications in specific.

In her research she employs methods from behavioural and production economics, mixing experimental and observational approaches. She is passionate about crunching data, interacting with stakeholders and analysing complex relationships in the realm of farm economics, productivity and efficiency, sustainability and innovation. 

Annika is an active advocate of the open science movement. She thinks that open science tools and practices are the future for good science.
