Educated as a landscape architect and urban designer, I have worked in design practices (e.g. B&B, Sant en Co and Mecanoo) for several years before going into academia. Since 2004, I teach at Wageningen University. In 2010, I received my PhD on urban climate responsive design.
My focus in design teaching is on urban design on the interface with landscape architecture and climate responsive design. My theoretical teaching focus is on procedural design theory.
My focus in research is on climate responsive design and Research Through Designing.
