Originally from India, I grew up, did my primary and secondary schooling, and eventually worked in the non-profit sector in Tanzania. Before research, my professional experience was mostly in microfinance, SME finance and project management in Tanzania, Uganda, and the US. After completing my masters in economics at Tilburg University, and currently working on earn my stripes as an independent researcher (PhD) and an economic historian, here at Wageningen University and Research.
Comparative economic development, sub-Saharan Africa, and what constitutes human welfare / development have been close to my interest. My current project tries to identify the nature and historical roots of sub-Saharan Africa's movement form self-sufficiency in food, towards substatial import-dependence.
