Bruce Mutsvairo: Decolonising digital methods in Africa

In this talk, I would like to discuss the use of decolonial theory to question why African ontological experiences -online and offline - are sometimes not accepted as sources of knowledge. I will first define digital methods before delving into the cultural and ethical challenges researchers face when conducting 'field' research within the African digital contexts. I will then highlight the importance of promoting Afrocentric epistemic and methodological approaches when conducting research within the African digital contexts.
