Calibrated colour using spectroscopic imaging

Colour is the most important feature for ornamentals, but unfortunately camera's can differ significantly in their colour reproduction ability. There is no garantuee that the colour of images of a new camera can be compared with existing images.

Therefore, we have used a more physical approach to colour. We have recorded spectroscopic reflectance images of the rose flowers, using a so-called imaging spectrograph.

From the spectroscopic reflectance image, we can reconstruct a colour image under any defined light source, for true colour measurements.
