I am Justin Tauber, a PhD candidate at Physical Chemistry and Soft Matter from March 2017 until March 2021. I obtained my Bsc and Msc in Molecular Life Sciences at Wageningen University. During my studies I specialized in soft matter physics and computer modeling.
As a part of the SoftBreak project I develop models for failure in soft (polymeric) materials, such as gels and rubbers. I am especially interested in failure processes in multi-component materials, such as inter-penetrating networks, and heterogeneous materials.
My research is based on the philosophy that general trends in soft matter physics can often be explained by simple models. We interpret polymer networks as networks of (entropic) springs and use this concept to model physical phenomena that are observed in experiments or predicted by theory.
