SDC receives funding for Seed Money project

We would like to congratulate Gemma van der Haar and Gerard Verschoor on receiving a funding for their INREF Seed Money project, “Building a research partnership for a comprehensive rural reform in post-conflict Colombia”. The peace treaty between the Colombian government and the FARC-EP presents enormous opportunities to restructure rural areas and to revitalise the smallholder sector. The project partners natural scientists (focusing on agro-ecology, agro-forestry, environmentally benign animal husbandry) with social scientists(focusing on social justice, family agriculture, endogenous development, social reconstruction in post-war regions) and representatives from wider Colombian society (Afro-descendants, Indigenous peoples, peasant organizations, government officials and ex-insurgents) with a view to develop an agenda that may serve as a basis for future proposals.
