CJ (Cora) van Oosten
Senior advisor Natural Resources ManagementDr. Cora van Oosten is well known for her expertise on landscape governance. She has worked as adviser, project manager and team leader, usually on long term assignment in Africa, Latin America and Asia. At present, Cora is employed as senior project leader at Wageningen Centre of Development Innovation, where she is in charge of a project portfolio related to landscape approaches, landscape restoration, landscape governance and capacity development. Together with students and staff of the Wageningen Forest and Nature Conservation Policy Group she carries out research on landscape governance capabilities, and how these can be strengthened. In 2021 she obtained her PhD degree, based on her thesis titled Landscape Governance - from analysing challenges to capacitating stakeholders.
In partnership with CIFOR-ICRAF Cora coordinates the learning programme of the Global Landscapes Forum which is the world's largest network on landscape approaches. Here, she initiated the Landscape Academy, which is the go-to place for landscape learning. Its newest project is called Restoration Education, initiated in the context of the UN Decade on Ecosystem Restoration.
Cora has a large global network of landscape practitioners, policy makers, scientists, colleagues and alumni. She is frequently asked to facilitate meetings and international events, organise and lead dialogues, provide policy advise and deliver hands-on services upon request.
