Why follow this course?

In the online master's course, we will learn about how different choices in food production and processing methods affect sustainability. We need evaluation tools and a system design that maximises resource and technology utilisation to assess technologies.

This online master's course in bioprocessing in sustainable food teaches Exergy Analysis, which measures the quality of different streams and their quantity. This analysis helps assess the efficiency of raw materials, energy, water, and utilities in various food production systems. It examines the supply chain, factory level, and individual products and operations.

Programme & topics

The online master's course consists of online knowledge clips, digital exercises and case studies. All information will be provided on Brightspace.

What you'll learn

  • Analyse process systems with exergy analysis
  • Prepare Grassmann diagrams for visualisation of exergy flows and destruction
  • Identify thermodynamic efficiencies
  • Identify options for improvement

Capstone project

After completion of two or more courses, there is a unique opportunity to apply what you have learned. You can start a capstone project in consultation with a Wageningen expert in the field.

It is a tailor-made project where you will write a short paper about your results and conclusions. During this work, you will be coached by an expert. The price for this project is €1,230,-.

Examination

Participation in the remote proctored exam is optional. If you decide not to participate in the exam, you do not qualify for a certificate and/or Micro-credentials. The certificate is included in the course price. The date of examination is 06/06/2024 (6 June 2024).
