The laboratory is part of the Environmental Science Group within Wageningen University and Research Centre.
It was officially opened in February 2010 and is the successor of the laboratory at the 'De Nieuwlanden' (a former location of Wageningen University). The new laboratory at the campus complex of Wageningen University has different research and educational facilities. The experimental research is mainly focusing on morphological responses to channel flow and overland flow. Current research topics are in the fields of stream restoration, gully erosion and side channels created by longitudinal dams.
Prof. Kraijenhoff van de Leur
Prof. Ir. D.A. Kraijenhoff van de Leur was the driving force behind the former laboratory at the location 'De Nieuwlanden', which has been operational between 1973-2005. As a professor of the chair group 'Hydraulics and Catchment Hydrology', he had a leading role in his field of research. Experimental research and education at Wageningen University still benefits from his efforts in the past. Prof. Ir. D.A. Kraijenhoff van de Leur was professor until 1983.
