In this project, the possibilities to improve the light use efficiency of different crops used in greenhouse horticulture with additional green light. The available literature on the effects of green light on growth, development, production and underlying physiological processes will be analysed. We will do so for the different groups of crops, ie. cut flowers, pot plants, vegetables and fruit vegetables.
This literature study should reveal how green light is perceived by the plant, which processes are influences, at which intensity or duration and how the effect depends on the precence of other light colours.
This knowledge should lead to a "road map" to determine the possibilities to affect plant performance with additional green light to improve the light use efficiency of both sun light and additional light.
