Artificial viruses assembled from modular building blocks for vaccine applications

This project aims to combine our knowledge about natural viruses with state of the art physical chemistry, structural chemistry and reverse-genetics technologies to develop building blocks for the construction of artificial viruses. The resulting artificial viruses will be modular on nucleotide and protein level and will be able to enter specific host cells in which genes of interest can be expressed. The building blocks can ultimately be used to develop tailor-made artificial viruses with therapeutic potential.
