Project

MARE Co-funding

This proposal aims at optimising standard samplingmethodologies for fisheries data in the North Atlantic. Through a number ofcase studies (flatfish, demersal fish and small pelagics) different samplingmethodologies and subsequent estimation procedures are testes to achievemaximum efficiency and less bias. This will convert the current, oftenopportunistic, sampling methodologies into statistically sound samplingprocedures, thus producing better data by design. As part of this proposal, thedirect implications for regional and national sampling programs are analysed aswell. Other work packages focus on the development of estimation procedures toprepare regional data for assessment working groups, this includes thedevelopment of data transfer protocols, standard R-packages etc.

This KB-WOT project co-finances the DG MARE project:

"Strengthening regional cooperation in the area of fisheries data collection in the North Sea and Eastern Arctic"
