Mitigation of GHG in arable systems under different pedoclimatic conditions in Europe

This project will explore the possibilities to bring together European research organisations and innovation brokering/extension services to create a competitive bid for the expected ERAnet call on Monitoring and Mitigation of Agricultural and Forestry Greenhouse Gases (GHG).

The project explores the potential of european long term experiment databases on soil N and C cycle management to improve our insight in potential for C sequestration and minimising nitrous oxide losses. This to strengthen the science based estimations/evidence to underpin quantative approaches and innovation strategies on farm to lower the carbon footprint. We will bring key dabases together and start working from there on on a cioalition on european scale to explore mitigation strategies of arable farms under different pedoclimatic conditions. Aiming also at harmonising Carbon footpint tools for practical use.
