Mycobacteriële infecties, tuberculose
Dit project vormt een onderdeel van het taakgerichte deel van het programma en omvat alle taken op het gebied van mycobacteriële infecties en tuberculose in het bijzonder.
Het project omvat vooral de uitvoering van de primaire wettelijke taken in het kader van nationale en EU-regelgeving m.b.t. tuberculose (tuberculosediagnostiek in het kader van verdenkingen, uitbraken, monitoring- en surveillance, advisering m.b.t. preventie en bestrijding), de taken als nationaal veterinair referentielaboratorium voor mycobacteriële infecties, het onderhouden van de nodige basisexpertise op dit gebied en het up-to-date houden van diagnostische methoden en typeringsmethoden.
Daarnaast wordt binnen dit project in een beperktere omvang aandacht besteed aan andere mycobacteriële aandoeningen dan tuberculose, zoals o.a. M. avium infecties, paratuberculose (M. avium ssp. paratuberculosis) en tuberculose bij vissen en zeezoogdieren (M. marinum, M. fortuitum, M. pinnipedi), vanwege hun bewezen of nog in discussie zijnde zoönotische betekenis.
