On the same page is a campus-wide book club to promote thinking beyond science and generate discussion around a book and its theme.
Do you love books? Do you wish you could have more interaction with people across campus? How about running into fellow students in the Forum who are reading the very same book that is on top of your mind? Wouldn’t it be great if after reading a book you could meet up with others on campus or discuss your ideas with the author of the book?
Wageningen Young Academy has set up a program to do just that: On the same page
We want to get students & staff reading and talking about literature by organizing events around a single book, book clubs and ending with a conversation with the author. We will distribute a number of copies of the selected book for free to ‘ambassadors’ around campus, and several bookstores will also be involved to promote the book. With this program we will create some buzz and interaction on campus among people from different disciplines by all being on the same page.
Let us know if you want to be an ambassador for this event and we’ll give you a book! Just email firstname.lastname@example.org with 'On the same page' in the subject line.
Ambassadors can be students and staff, it’s open. There’s one catch: you can’t keep the book, you have to give the book to someone else, someone you think will get excited about this, read the book, and then pass it along again!
We will select Dutch and International authors. Keep your eyes open for announcements.
The first book will be Land of my Fathers / Land van mijn Vaders by Vamba Sherif. There will be two events:
Book club at Impulse: June 4th 17:00-19:00
Meet the author at Onder den Linden: June 18th 17:30 onwards
Download two chapters to join the discussion!
