Grace Tan is a postdoc researcher in Health and Society. She comes from the multicultural and modern city of Singapore, where food is ethnically diverse and a major feature of everyday life (national obsession!). She has a diverse background in food technology, flavour chemistry, nutrition, sensory science and consumer behaviour, and loves taking on an interdisciplinary approach to explore complex nutrition-related issues.
Her research interests lie in understanding the interactions between food, people and the sociocultural environment in order to make healthy and sustainable food practices more attractive and manageable. She is currently working on the EU SU-EATABLE LIFE project that aims to engage EU citizens to adopt a sustainable and healthy diet through a series of canteen interventions. This research is based on salutogenesis and an everyday-life perspective.
Grace is also on a personal journey towards living healthier and more environmentally friendly, and it certainly isn't easy!
