Agro Food Robotics is a joint initiative within Wageningen University & Research, linking over 50 experts in robotics and computer vision and the thousands of Wageningen experts in agro food application areas. Our agile team covers several Wageningen departments. As programme leader, I am responsible for the team cooperation, strategy, project portfolio, communication and business development of Agro Food Robotics.
Our aim is to sustainably feed the world, by inventing and applying new technology solutions, robotics and drones, computer vision, sensing, deep learning etc. To this end, we work on:
* objective quality control,
* handsfree production,
* optimal breeding performance
* smart & high quality food processing and
* more & better with less resources
in fresh chains, food, greenhouse horticulture, open field farming, postharvest quality, live stock, environment and forest protection
2011 - 2017 R&D manager Food Fresh & Chains
Leadership and management of contract research group (up to 30 fte) specializing in computer vision, agrofood robotics, postharvest physiology, fresh produce storage and transport, cooling technology, packaging technology, supply chain management, food quality analysis. Emphasis on sustainable chains of fresh produce like fruits, vegetables, plants and flowers
Member of MT Fresh Food and Chains, developing vision and strategy for market, science and team, increasing cooperation between departments, hiring new team members, performance evaluation and development, coaching of teamleaders, projectleaders and business developers, improving workflow etc.
