Sjoerd Brandsma is a landscape architect, researcher and lecturer at the Landscape Architecture and Spatial Planning group at Wageningen University. After finishing his master in landscape architecture at Wageningen University in 2012 he worked for six years as a designer/landscape architect for Oikosdesign and karres+brands. He has designed on water cleaning landscapes, flower shows, ecological gardens, parks and ecological urban expansions. During his career Sjoerd was inspired to write about the significant differences in landscape reasoning between Eastern and Western cultures, ecological reasoning and aesthetics. Now Sjoerd is researching the application of urban microclimate improvement in urban design processes in collaboration with the Municipality of Amsterdam, teaching in design studios and supervising BSc- and MSc-thesis students.
