The French company Parrot has developed a sensor which measures light, EC, temperature and the water content of the substrate. From 1 November, it is possible to buy this sensor and download an app, sending measured data wireless to the phone. So it will be possible to know what your plants need. The plant will stay in contact with you through the sensor and background models which will indicate whether the plants needs water or fertilization, or maybe a warmer place or colder place with more shadow.

Wageningen UR Greenhouse Horticulture is helping Parrot to set thresholds in the models for the amount of light, EC, temperature and watering for all potted plants, annuals and terrace plants. The goal is to help the consumers have much pleasure in growing and flowering of plants as long as possible.
