SweetPotato is an independent music group of 1 PhD and 4 Msc students at Wageningen UR and a professional pianist. After several years performing Chinese folk songs in different occasions in the Netherlands, Shuhang Wang initiated this music group in 2013. The name of the group comes from the “Sweet Potato porridge”- a typical Chinese family cuisine- which was served at the first gathering of the group. SweetPotato plays traditional Chinese music with three different Chinese instruments (guzheng, dizi-banboo flute, pipa), piano and vocal. Since it was formed, the group has given several concerts in Wageningen and Arnhem, and has performed in various events/festivals.
