“Julian Bohn is a rare person in today’s jazz scene. A young musician with a very old musical soul, he’s not trying to blow you out of the water with his technique (which he has plenty of), but rather plays music that draws you in and makes you want to listen to every track. With a beautiful touch and fresh ideas, he leads you on a journey of introspection and creativity.” - Judy Niemack, Jazz Vocalist.
The Julian Bohn Trio, with Julian Bohn on piano and synthesizer, Calvin Lennig on bass and Lukas „Bobby“ Büning on drums, presents a courageous body of music that’s searching for beauty in dissonance and for peace in distress - reflecting on our fast-paced society while staying true and deeply connected to the musical heritage and history of jazz and other forms of contemporary improvised music. In their compositions, deep and vibrant grooves are juxtaposed with warm soundscapes, daring improvisations and thoughtful melodies. Connected by their shared love for the traditional piano trio setting, the three young musicians encourage each other to take risks, be bold yet sensitive, and expand the possibilities of the instrumentation through the incorporation of new sounds and voices. This leads to exciting interplay, displaying their individual strengths and culminating in a deeply intertwined, powerful band sound.
