Prof. Ada Yonath public lecture: in this lecture Prof. Ada Yonath from the Weizmann Institute of Science (Israel), will present her ground breaking work on the structure and function of the ribosome. Ribosomes are fundamental for all life, they function as the cell’s protein factories, and understanding their structure and function is key to novel treatments of diseases. Many years of work on ‘the impossible’ finally got rewarded with great discoveries and the Nobel award in Chemistry in 2009.
The lecture will be followed by the presentation of the book “Inspiring Women at WUR”, featuring 22 inspiring women from Wageningen UR and will update you on the actions for gender balance, past and future at Wageningen UR.
We close the event with a reception at the Spot Café, Orion; the role models from the book will be available for short conversations (speed dates) with the audience.
