On Monday 17 June, ten WUR alumni and two WUR China office staff members attended the Dutch day ceremony at the Hortifair expo in Beijing. Before the opening ceremony of the Dutch garden, there was a seminar on sustainable horticulture Chain management, on which Wageningen alumni contributed 3 questions. And in the welcome speech by Mr. Ed Kronenburg, ambassador embassy of the Kingdom of the Netherlands, he especially welcomed the WUR alumni, and gave a compliment to the contribution of Wageningen alumni to Sino-Dutch agro collaboration.
During this event, several questions were asked by alumni:
Question 1 from Prof. Liang Jianfen from CAU: food waste in China is a very serious issue, she asked speakers what the current situation of vegetable waste in China and the Netherlands is.
Question 2 from Chen Tianjin from CAAS: greenhouse horticulture consumes a lot of energies to control climate, why is the greenhouse in the Netherlands using less energy or even producing energy?
Question 3 from Yan Jie: the greenhouse in the Netherlands is profitable, China has been introducing the greenhouse and related technologies for more than 20 years, why is very few of the investment beneficial? What suggestion do you have for Chinese investors?
