Waterlanders specialises in creating site-specific performances that combines theatre, music and visual art to immerse visitors in a mysterious universe that is at once poetic, musical and visual.

With End User (Eindgebruiker), the six members of Waterlanders have created a site-specific performance about their personal relationship with technology. The near-invisible fire we still carry with us connects the past, present and future and serves as the main theme of the show. It burns in our mobile phones, in our wall sockets and under our car bonnets. Technology gives us greater personal freedom and power, but it also makes us more dependent on people and things. Technology depletes the earth while presenting us with ways to influence things like the environment, climate and poverty. How do we take responsibility in a world that is increasingly spinning out of control? Today's technological society creates an artificial layer between us and our natural environment. Waterlanders aims to explore and penetrate this layer and give viewers something tangible: a performance they can sink their teeth into.

Wageningen Campus

Wageningen Campus is the perfect location for End User. Here, leading scientists work on the technology of the future. The members of Waterlanders met with several of these academics to gain inspiration to create a show that will inspire Wageningen students and staff when it is performed on campus in September.

The Dutch version of End User (Eindgebruiker) will take the audience on an exciting journey across the campus. Four performances will be held in Dutch, with a maximum of 150 visitors per show. A special English-language performance will also be held for international students and staff.
