The use of genomic information has become increasingly important in a breeding program. In this thesis genomic information on purebred and crossbred pigs was exploited. We identified genomic regions that affect traits that are important to breeders, such as gestation length and androstenone level. After that, the focus was changed to the application of genomic selection in pigs. Many scenarios of genomic prediction were studied: within-, across- and multi-population prediction, as well as different combinations between purebred and crossbred pigs. These topics are relevant in the application of genomic information in the present breeding situation.
