Anneke draws, paints and teaches at her art studio in Sneek. She finds inspiration in her direct surroundings, at home or on the road. She has developed her own visual language. Painting is like writing poems with a paintbrush.
In everyday conversation we talk about “ordinary things” or “life just happens”. However, in the language of poetry nothing is just ordinary. Not a stone, not a cloud hanging over the sea. Not a day, not a night after a day. To really see this, one has to watch slowly and with care. Which is an art in itself. But once you take this at heart, it is hard to ignore. “And so it seems there will always be plenty of work to do for poets” says Polish poet Wislawa Szymborska
