Potato is a crop ideally suited for cooler growing conditions and shortage of water from its optimum requirement will affect tuber yield production. In order to evaluate the effect of drought stress on potato tuber yield, potatoes were grown under drought stress conditions both under greenhouse and field conditions. Morphological and physiological data were collected that would indicate the response of potato to drought stress. To understand the genetic factors underlying drought tolerance in potato, we did QTL mapping and we detected genomic regions responsible for drought tolerance in potato. The identification of genetic variation for drought tolerance will help in the improvement of potato for drought tolerance.
