Lecture by dr. Ton Duffhues
Regularly, the media confront us with the latest facts and figures about the reduction of the number of farms, and the lack of possibilities for young farmers to succeed. But this is just part of the story. In this lecture Ton Duffhues gives an overview of the social and economic difficulties for contemporary farmers and their families. And of their different coping strategies. What happens with them if farming becomes surviving? How can they make their farm more future-proof?
Dr. Ton Duffhues is Specialist Agriculture and Society at farmers organization ZLTO. He also is director of 'Atelier Waarden van het Land' ('Atelier Values of the Country') and co-author of, among others, ‘Boerenwijsheid’ (‘Farmers Wisdom’).
