International and Dutch policies on socio-economic development in fragile settings

Research fellow Anette Hoffmann from Clingendael's Conflict Research Unit will present the findings of a policy review of selected Dutch and international policy documents dealing with socio-economic development in fragile and conflict-affected environments. She analysed these policies against key international flagship reports such as the WDR 2011 on Conflict, Security and Development and the 2009 UN Policy for Post-Conflict Employment Creation, Income Generation and Reintegration.

Organised by IS Academy Human Security in Fragile States & Clingendael Conflict Research Unit

Tue 24 June 2014 10:00 to 13:00

Venue Ministry of Foreign Affairs; The Hague

The review further seeks to identify which elements of the flagship reports have found their way into major policies and to uncover the nuances and underlying assumptions that stand out or got lost along the process of policy making.

The aim of the workshop is to discuss the findings and engage in critical reflection on current policy trends in this field.

In principle, participation in this workshop is limited to invitees. For more information, please send an email to Bart Weijs, the coordinator of the IS Academy.
