Jan Gerrit Deelen (OECD): The OECD, at the crossroads between science and politics

Throughout its history, the OECD has assisted countries in fostering good governance and reforming and improving their economic policies to generate greater economic growth. Cornerstones of the OECD-work are data-collection and analysis, the evidence based policy recommendations and robust peer reviews. However the global economic and political environment have changed dramatically in recent years. The multilateral approach has been questioned. A need for change in economic analysis and policy-making? And how fits the recently published vision document of Minister Schouten called Agriculture, nature and food: valuable and connected in this respect? Is a transition to a circular agro-food system possible and what economic and environmental trade-offs are inevitable? Will there be an opportunity for WUR to intensify the collaboration with OECD?
