Launching Ceremonies Regional Chapters China - Nanjing and Wuhan, China - 10 and 11 November 2019

On November 10 and 11, the first and second official Regional Alumni Chapters China will be launched in Nanjing and Wuhan. On this occasion Prof. dr. Arthur Mol, Rector Magnificus/vice-president Wageningen University & Research will, together with the Supervisory Board of the Wageningen Alumni Chapter China, sign the official declaration to start the Regional Alumni Chapters China in Nanjing and Wuhan. The ceremonies will be witnessed by local Wageningen Alumni.

The purpose of the Alumni Chapters and Regional Sub Chapters is to engage local Wageningen Alumni in China with each other in organized efforts to mutually benefit the Alumni Members of the Chapter and Wageningen University. This, in order to support the alma mater’s goals, and to strengthen the ties between Alumni, the community, and the alma mater. Moreover, to create a network amongst Alumni and to get access to knowledge in the Wageningen domain, to gain support of the Wageningen mission by volunteering, joining activities and/or donations to specific funds. Launching Ceremony, 1st Regional Alumni Chapter China in Nanjing, 10 November 2019

On the same occasion as the launch of the 1st Regional Alumni Chapter China, a UniversiTREE (tree type: Podocarpus) will be planted on the campus of Nanjing Agricultural University (NAU).

The project 100 trees for 100 years Wageningen University & Research was an idea from a Wageningen alumnus. Trees are now being planted worldwide to create a forest of UniversiTREES. The forest symbolically represents the international connection to Wageningen. The tree chosen is always a slow-growing species which can live to be very old and which fits into the specific environment. The UniversiTREES will collectively form a lasting reminder of 100 years WUR. More information can be found on the website.

Launching Ceremony, 2nd Regional Alumni Chapter China in Wuhan, 11 November 2019

On the same occasion as the launch of the 2nd Regional Alumni Chapter China, a UniversiTREE (tree type: Magnolia) will be planted on the campus of Huazhong Agricultural University.

The project 100 trees for 100 years Wageningen University & Research was an idea from a Wageningen alumnus. Trees are now being planted worldwide to create a forest of UniversiTREES.
