Promised Land or Scary Country?

The over 8.000 students at Wageningen University emerge from more than 100 countries. Many of the Dutch students leave The Netherlands during their studies.
This series was composed with an international group of students. Join us in learning and sharing our experiences about living abroad.

L’Auberge Espagnole
Movie, English subtitles

In L’Auberge Espagnole we meet Xavier, a French Erasmus-student. In Barcelona he shares an apartment with an international group of students. His year in a foreign country turns out to be a life-changing experience.
The movie tackles subjects which are familiar to many students in Wageningen: Leaving friends and family behind (and growing apart). The hassle of all the paperwork. Moving to a new, unknown city. Not speaking the language. Living with people from different countries. But also personal exploration and growth, and love.

After the movie we discuss these themes. A Spanish student and a non-Spanish student who lived in Spain are present, to reflect on the movie.
