The recycling of batteries, plastic, beer bottles, car tires, and many other things has become common nowadays. But what about landscapes? With a growing world population the demand for new land rises, so let’s make creative use of abandoned and polluted areas!
Five Wageningen students with different backgrounds have been working on the concept of creative landscape recycling within the first edition of the BSc Honours Programme. In short this concept is about integrating rehabilitation and design in a creative way, with the goal to give a new function to a polluted and abandoned landscape.
We have been looking into soil rehabilitation, landscape design, and example cases across the world. With this background knowledge, we made a design for the recycling of a garbage dump in the Netherlands. We present this project in an interactive exhibition which can be found in Impulse between the 17th and 23rd of May and in the Forum library from the 24th until the 27th of May.
On the 18th of May, a lunch lecture shall be given about creative landscape recycling. Feel welcome to join us!
