Concert
Lunchconcert in Impulse, Pent'amuse
W.A. Mozart – Quintet in E flat Major for Piano and Winds KV 452
L. van Beethoven – Quintet in E flat Major for Piano and Winds Opus 16
Both these famous pieces can be regarded as piano concerts, where the four wind instruments (oboe, clarinet, french horn and bassoon) take the role of the orchestra. When he had completed it, Mozart considered his quintet as his best composition so far, and Beethoven decided he should follow the Master, and write one piece in the same genre. Both pieces are played by the semi-professional ensemble Pent’Amuse, consisting of:
Bart Coenen – piano
Marleen Henkens (WUR virology) – oboe
Irene Bosch – clarinet
Karin Molenveld (WUR Biobased Products) – french horn
Martien Cohen Stuart (WUR physical chemistry & soft matter) - bassoon
