Panel discussion MID: A critical perspective in practice

As students of the master International Development Studies we approach ‘development’ with an academic and critical view. However, many of us hope to work within the field we so often criticize. We (Noémie, Lisa, Vera and Gerjanne, all first-year MID students) struggle with how we can combine this critical perspective with our future career.

Organised by Sociology of Development and Change Group

Fri 28 February 2014 13:30 to 17:00

Therefore we organize an afternoon to discuss these struggles with you. A panel consisting of professionals in international development will contribute to the discussion. Professionals from the Ministry of Foreign Affairs, the profit as well as the non-profit sector will be present. By posing central questions and propositions to this expert panel, we hope to get a closer view on our role as critical scientists in the field.

The discussion will take place on February 28th from 13:30-17:00 at Wageningen University (we will inform you on the location later). After the discussion the debate can continue informally with a drink.  Please note the date in your diary.

Due to a maximum capacity, we would like you to sign up for this afternoon. Please sent an email to with your (for students) name, study year and specialization (for phds/professors/teachers/lecturers/others) your name, function (and group).

We are looking forward to see you on the 28th,

No─Śmie, Lisa, Vera en Gerjanne
