Protecting crops responsibly, while retaining and even improving natural resources. Can this be done? Rob van de Lindeloof, Sales and Marketing Director of Royal Agrifirm Group, thinks that not only his organisation, but the agri- and horticulture at large, should have this ambition.
Speaking for Agrifirm, a multinational cooperative with a membership of 17 thousand Dutch growers and farmers, Rob will demonstrate its integrated approach in crop protection. This is rooted in creating healthy soils, which mean healthy and resilient crops, and in optimizing the use of natural enemies of hazardous insects and fungi. It is also about innovating in precision farming technologies and low-impact means.
This also implies the ambition to drive down the need for chemicals. Still, this does not mean that chemical crop protection will be a relic of the past. Not only technology, also nature develops. Chemical innovation should therefore at least be at par, to be ready as a final resort.
