About Bertjan Verbeek

Bertjan Verbeek is Professor of International Relations. He is also Visiting Fellow of Crismart (Crisis Research and Training) at the Swedish National Defence College, Stockholm, Sweden. He was Associate Fellow of the Paul Nitze School of Advanced International Studies, The Johns Hopkins University, Bologna, Italy (2007-2009). In 2011 he was a Senior Fulbright Fellow at the Maxwell School of Citizenship and Public Affairs of Syracuse University. Since 2012 he has been Visiting Professor at the Department of Political Science at the University of Bologna, Italy.He studied political science at Erasmus University, Rotterdam, the Netherlands, and international relations at the Paul Nitze School of Advanced International Studies of the Johns Hopkins University at Bologna, Italy. He holds a PhD from the European University Institute in Florence, Italy. Bertjan Verbeek is currently involved in two major research projects. Bertjan Verbeek is a fellow of the Netherlands Institute of Government. He co-organizes and co-teaches the NiG course Political Science: State of the Art. In collaboration with Jaap de Wilde (Rijksuniversiteit Groningen) he conducted a research colloquium on International Organizations between 2006 and 2009.

He is also a Member of the Board of the Netherlands Institute of Government (NiG) (2011 -) and was Member of the Board of the Dutch Political Science Association (NKWP) (2010 -2012)
