The Rector Magnificus of Wageningen UR, Professor Arthur P.J. Mol, invites students and staff to participate in a meeting on Monday 9 May 2016 about facilitating the growth of the number of students at the university. The Chair of the Supervisory Board, Professor Job Cohen, will lead the meeting.
Wageningen University continues to attract many Bachelor's and Master's students. This requires creativity and commitment from the organisation to lead education in the right direction and to make sufficient facilities available. An important issue is the number of classrooms and educational facilities that are available within the current schedule. The theme of this meeting is the optimal use of educational facilities.
The improved distribution of education within the current university timetable will provide some relief and can be achieved in a relatively short time. Increasing focus on digital teaching methods is a second option that is also necessary in terms of educational reform.
Moreover, the Executive Board, in line with many other large international universities in our domain, would like to investigate whether the extension of lecturing hours might provide a suitable solution. A pilot programme that addresses this question will be launched in September.
The meeting will commence with a few short introductions by the Rector Magnificus and representatives of the students and lecturers. This will be followed by a discussion of the ideas and considerations that have been submitted, and there will be an opportunity for people to propose their own ideas.
The meeting will take place in the Speakers Corner of Impulse from 6:00 PM to 7:30 PM. All students and staff of Wageningen UR are welcome to attend.
